On January 25, 2022, Inland Action met with Harry “Doc” Ervin, Superintendent, San Bernardino City Unified School District. Dr. Ervin was unanimously appointed as Superintendent in March of 2021, after a national search. He has a commitment to equity and excellence in education. SBCUSD struggled with COVID, but at this time 95% of students have returned to in-person learning. Key performance indicators show that students have been impacted by loss of time in the classroom, and the District is focused on moving children to grade-level performance. The District is building a Framework for Excellence focused on: academic achievement, college and career readiness, social/emotional learning, family engagement and health and safety.
