Inland Action meets with Presiding Judge LIsa Rogan

On May 21, 2024 members of Inland Action met with San Bernadino County Superior Court Presiding Judge Lisa Rogan. Judge Rogan presented an update on the “State of the Court” discussing budget, service expansion and advocacy to improve justice.

Critical issues facing the courts include: a severe shortage of court reporters creating a lack of judicial records and judicial vacancies which have created wait times in San Bernardino County unlike any other county in the state. On the civil bench, judges have case loads totaling 2,187 compared to 700-800 in other counties-the longest wait time in the state.

Judge Rogan notes that our County, after years of effort, is now for the first time at 95% equity budget compared to 47% in prior years. The increase has allowed the courts to make many improvements; however, there is more to be done and the governor’s current budget proposal will be a challenge.

Inland Action continues to advocate on behalf of our courts and appreciates teaming up with Judge Rogan and her colleagues in these efforts.
