RE: Support for San Bernardino County Regional Parks’ Santa Ana River Trail Phase IV-A Grant Application

Dear Chairman Bosco:

Inland Action is pleased to support the San Bernardino County Regional Parks Department’s application asking the California State Coastal Conservancy to fund an important expansion of  the Santa Ana River Trail (SART) in the City of Redlands.

The Santa Ana River Trail is a 110-mile trail stretching from the mouth of the Santa Ana River on the Pacific coast in Orange County, into Riverside County, eventually culminating near Big Bear Lake in San Bernardino County. This long trail has many popular sections that are frequently used by tens of thousands of Californians for hiking, walking, biking, and exploring the extraordinary beauty of the region.

A grant from the Coastal Conservancy will help San Bernardino County to complete Phase IV-A of the trail, a 3.9-mile expansion from California Street to Orange Street in the City of Redlands that will pave this portion of the trail, make substantial infrastructure improvements, and increase accessibility. This portion of SART will provide residents with a safe active transportation alternative that links to schools, work, and recreational destinations throughout Southern California.

For these reasons, Inland Action is pleased to support this grant funding request by San Bernardino County to complete this section of the Santa Ana River Trail, a project we have long supported.

Sincerely,

Carole Beswick, CEO
