Dear Congresswoman Torres,

Inland Action recognizes your consistent leadership and support in bringing local control to Ontario International Airport, something of critical importance to our region. Inland Action strongly supports the Airport Area Demolition, Cucamonga Channel Bridge and Avion Street Realignment (ACCAR) Project and the request for Community Project Funding for this important project.

ONT is a significant economic driver for the Inland Empire, San Gabriel Valley and the broader Southern California region. The cargo side of the business at ONT has helped the region emerge as a major e-commerce hub, which brings significant employment opportunities to our communities. ONT also enhances the quality of life for residents of the region by providing comprehensive air service for business and leisure travel. The continued development of the ONT campus and air service options is a top priority for the region.

Investing in the ACCAR Project will achieve three key community goals. First, it will enhance public safety. Demolishing long abandoned military facilities and buildings will make the airport campus safer from a security standpoint. Second, it will generate economic growth. Clearing these facilities creates more usable space for the airport to expand cargo and logistics operations, which will create more local jobs in the near and longer terms. Third, it will have environmental benefits. Realigning the access road will cut down on idling truck traffic, which will result in reduced emissions. Demolishing the old facilities will also ensure the containment and removal of any lead, asbestos, or other environmentally hazardous material left on the campus.

For these reasons and more, Inland Action requests the inclusion of the ACCAR Project in your FY 2022 Community Project Funding requests.

Sincerely,

Carole Beswick, CEO
