Support for H.R. 1279 (Veterans exposed to toxic burn pits) 6/5/18

June 5, 2018

Congressman Raul Ruiz
1319 Longworth HOB
Washington, D.C. 20515

Dear Congressman Ruiz,

The members of Inland Action offer their support for H.R. 1279 and commend the Congress-

man for his support of and concern for veterans exposed to toxic burn pits.  Having a specific

office at the Veteran’s Administration to assist our veterans with diagnosis, treatment and

rehabilitation after exposure is the right thing to do.

Soldiers exposed to the pollutants released by the burn pits used in both the Afghanistan and

Iraq conflicts have been known to suffer from pulmonary issues, insomnia, and cancer. Some of

these illnesses have resulted in death. It is critical that Dr. Ruiz continue his work with his

colleagues in Congress to continually raise awareness about the health implications of

exposure to burn pits.

We know that Congressman Ruiz is a strong supporter of our active and veteran service

members and we support him in these efforts.

Sincerely,

Carole Beswick, CEO
