The Honorable Pete Aguilar
108 Cannon House Office Building
Washington, DC 20515

Dear Congressman Aguilar,

Inland Action is happy to offer its support for the Community Project Fund Request of National Community Renaissance (“National CORE”) to fund $930,000 for the reconstruction and renovation of key common areas at its affordable apartment community in Rialto to bring them up to current CBC, Section 504, and American Disability Act (“ADA”) standards. This includes work in the community room, entrance, and apartment units at The Crossings affordable apartment community, a 2 and 3 bedroom one-hundred-unit affordable family property.

The Crossings offers a safe place for residents to live, community and after school programs and a clean and desirable environment. To comply with the ADA the rehab and modifications will ensure the safety and wellbeing of residents and their guests. The proposed work will address accessibility needs that allow residents, guests, and visitors to park at the property office, access the office front door, utilize the community room and kitchen, and upgrade accessibility in units requiring ADA modifications.

National CORE owns and operates eleven affordable properties in District 33 providing safe affordable housing to over 1,300 families. The funding will ensure that The Crossings is maintained to the highest standards thereby preserving affordable housing for families, seniors, veterans, and those at risk of homelessness.

You are no doubt aware of Inland Action’s ongoing support for the work that National CORE has been doing in our region. They are important partners in the affordable housing sector. We hope that you will support their request to do the needed ADA upgrades. The cost is prohibitive, and the benefits are both valuable and needed by our disabled population.

Sincerely,

Carole Beswick, CEO
