Dear Governor Newsom,
I am writing on behalf of the members of Inland Action who offer their wholehearted support for
the appointment of Joseph B. Widman to the San Bernardino Superior Court. Joe is highly respected
in the legal community and has a depth of experience that would uniquely qualify him for the
bench. His years with the U.S. Attorney’s office, serving both Riverside and San Bernardino
counties, gives him a broad perspective of the judicial issues in our county.
San Bernardino County has been woefully in need of additional judges, and finding qualified
candidates has been a priority for our region. Inland Action has included this effort in our legislative
platform for over five years. We were gratified by your adding the funding for 25 additional trial
court judges in this year’s budget. This will make a tremendous difference to our citizens.
We are hopeful that you will appoint Assistant U.S. Attorney Widman to the San Bernardino Court
and we thank you for your commitment to our state’s judiciary.
