RE: SUPPORT FOR APPOINTMENT OF JACK CLARKE, JR. TO UC BOARD OF REGENTS

Dear Governor Brown,

The members of Inland Action unconditionally support the application of Jack Clarke, Jr. to serve on the University of California Board of Regents.

A partner with the highly regarded law firm of Best Best & Krieger, Mr. Clarke specializes in Education Law and Litigation. He has over 30 years of extensive educational, professional and community experience.  Mr. Clarke holds a Juris Doctorate degree from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law, obtained after graduating from the University of California, Riverside with a Bachelor of Science degree in Administrative Studies. In his law practice, he is heavily involved with litigation concerning civil disputes, education law, special education disputes, public agency litigation, as well as other substantial litigation matters within the Inland Southern California region.

Mr. Clarke has played a meaningful role in advocating on behalf of education issues by frequently speaking on education law matters at regional and state-wide venues, such as the California Association of School Administrators Annual Symposium. He has received awards which include the California Association of Leadership Programs Award for Distinguished Leadership, the Sam Walton Award for contributions to the community, and was twice acknowledged as one of the 100 most influential lawyers in California by California Law Business Magazine.

His well-rounded work within the community highlights his consistent commitment to service and the public good, which we believe translates very well to serving the students, faculty, and staff of the University of California system.

For these reasons and more, we believe that Mr. Clarke will be a valuable asset and contributor to the work of the Board of Regents of the University of California, as well as an effective representative from the region. It is our hope that you will seriously consider him for an appointment to the Board of Regents.

We appreciate your consideration.

Sincerely,

Carole Beswick, CEO
