San Manuel Million Dollar Small Business Relief Fund Makes Transformative Donations

The San Manuel Band of Mission Indians surprised 50 small business owners with $20,000 grants from their Small Business Relief Fund. According to San Manuel Business Committee Member Audrey Martinez, the tribe demonstrates their call to Yawa’ by supporting local small businesses. Yawa’ is a Serrano term that means to act on one’s belief, San Manuel’s belief that it can be stewards of the land and its inhabitants. This financial assistance is an example of their culture of giving. Recipients told of the dramatic difference the grants will make in keeping their businesses open during the pandemic.
