
July 1, 2025: Inland Action met with Monique Arellano, Director of San Bernardino Council of Governments for San Bernardino Council of Governments and San Bernardino County Transportation Authority (SBCTA/SBCOG). The presentation began with an overview of the region covered including 24 cities and towns as well as 5 county supervisorial districts. Strategic plan priorities include Homeless Strategic Plan, Housing Trust, Street Vendor Toolkits, Development of Small Business Initiatives, and Smart Corridor Projects as identified in the Smart County Master Plan.
July 8, 2025: Inland Action met with Mohamad Almouazzen, Field Representative for Senator Schiff. Members discussed Education, Healthcare, and Housing needs for our region. Almouzaaen shared that Senator Schiff has two top priorities for CA – Healthcare and Agriculture for both CA and Federal level farmers ensuring they have the resources they need. In our region, primarily water.
July 15, 2025: Inland Action met with Assemblymember Greg Wallis/47th District & Chair of the IE Caucus. Asm. Wallis provided an update on both the recently signed budget and the IE Caucus. The May revise passed in June. The budget restored higher ed funding but placed a freeze on additional enrollment into MediCal as well as elimination of dental coverage. Some areas that Asm. Wallis is aware that needs attention include Cap & Trade (now called Cap & Invest) extension, backfill the CA food assistance program, and CEQA reform for housing projects.
July 22, 2025: Inland Action met with Jonathan Shardlow, land use attorney with Allen Matkins. Shardlow specializes in California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) compliance, helping clients navigate environmental laws and prepare necessary documents. During his presentation, he shared updates on CEQA law effective July, highlighting new exemptions and zoning compliance.
