M/S/P: Minutes from February 5, 2019.
Mark Kaenel, Treasurer, presented the first quarter 2019 Profit & Loss Budget vs. Actual and Balance Sheet. Mark summarized both reports. The dues for the anticipated three new members will be budgeted for the 2nd, 3rd and 4th quarters.
Delinquent member dues were reviewed. Possible late fees, suspension of membership, and withholding support were discussed. In the absence of written policies, personal phone contact will be made.
Representation on State Boards and Committees is critical for our region and qualified candidates are needed. Much like the Monday Morning Group’s readiness and focus on candidates from Riverside, San Bernardino also needs advocacy. Successful candidates must have both willingness and time. The membership will be informed, and a Committee will be created to help focus and guide efforts.
Members discussed hosting the Inland Empire Caucus. Items of interest included appointments on Boards and Commissions and deepening relationships. All agreed to pursue the idea but first develop a meaningful agenda.
The group affirmed that, as established in the bylaws, public entities should make up no more than 15% of the total Inland Action membership. Potential new members include:
- Burrtec
- Pacific Mountain Logistics
- Stater Bros. Markets
- The Community Foundation
- Unical Aviation
- San Antonio Regional Hospital
- East Valley Water District
A Membership Ad Hoc Committee will be created to help identify businesses and manufacturers in the community. John Mirau, Kristine Scott, and Dan Murphy volunteered to serve. Members are encouraged to bring guests to the upcoming meetings to inspire potential new members.
The following Member/Alternate changes were discussed. Contact with each of the members will be made to verify the information below:
San Manuel Band of Mission Indians-Loren Gill, CEO (Member)
San Bernardino Valley Municipal Water-Milford Harrison, Board President (Alternate)
San Bernardino International Airport-Catherine Pritchett, Dir. of Admin. Services (Alternate)
A new Inland Action website host entity has been selected. The site has been moved to the new host, and updated security credentials have been acquired. The website, as previously discussed, needs overhaul. Staff requests input and criticism about the current web site in order to create a more user-friendly site for our members and the public. A request to the membership will be e-mailed.
Inland Action will encourage and focus on the business community becoming involved for the 2020 census.
Follow up with the Monday Morning Group which is currently in Washington, D.C. will be made, specifically with respect to the meeting with White House Counsel on appointment of judges.
Meeting adjourned 8:33 a.m.
