Minutes
Present: Deborah Barmack, Carole Beswick, Tom Brickley, Ken Coate, Louis Goodwin, Scott Hofferber, Mark Kaenel, Sue McKee, John Prentice, Kristine Scott, Paul Shimoff and Phil Waller.
Announcements: 1) Phil Waller expressed appreciation to members for the kind wishes, cards etc. during his recent procedures/illness. 2) Sue McKee, alternate representative for UCR, will retire this month. Her successor has not yet been named. Appreciation for her work with Inland Action was expressed. 3) A new member lunch was hosted by San Manuel Band of Mission Indians at The Pines restaurant last week.

Treasurer, Phil Waller summarized the 2015 balance sheet and profit and loss reports. The 2015 information has been given to the accounting firm for 2015 tax preparation. An Executive Committee meeting should be planned in July in order to review and approve the tax return (due in August). M/S/P: Accept the 2015 financials as presented excluding any adjustments from the CPA’s.
Phil Waller presented the year to date financial reports ending May 31, 2016.

Mark Kaenel reported on the Brookings Institute Visioning Project. The meeting held at the University of Redlands was well attended and the group voted unanimously (with a few abstentions) to move forward with the process and complete the Brookings application. Early in July the Steering Committee will meet and regroup. Although “at the table” IEEP is not yet engaged. Discussion ensued.
Carole Beswick reported on the non-profit Tesla Foundation. The group, which has no affiliation to the auto company, is working with San Bernardino Unified School District and San Bernardino Community Colleges promoting robotics and STEM programs.
Kristine Scott reported that the West End ad-hoc committee met in April. They discussed regional issues and suggest meeting on a quarterly basis. The committee suggested an Inland Action lunch in the west to increase participation from the area.
Dr. Matthew Isaac, serving as the alternate representative for the San Bernardino Community College District, will retire at the end of the month. Ashley Gaines, Interim Economic Development & Corporate Training Director, San Bernardino Community College has been proposed as the new alternate.
M/S/P: Ashely Gaines, Interim EDCT Dir. will serve as the alternate for the SBCCD.
Matthew Buck (currently serving as the alternate) has been proposed to serve as the member for the California Apartment Association – Apartment Association Greater Inland Empire (CAA-AAGIE). Tim Johnson is no longer with CAA-AAGIE.

Possible membership of San Bernardino County and Metropolitan Water were discussed. Inland Action by-laws were reviewed and the intent of the group discussed. Language in the by-laws to eliminate the “exceptions” will be requested from John Mirau.
