Minutes
Present: Deborah Barmack, Carole Beswick, Tom Brickley, Ann Bryan, Ken Coate, Kevin Dyerly, Louis Goodwin, Scott Hofferber, Mark Kaenel, P.T. McEwen, John Mirau, Roman Nava, Brian Reider, Michael Rivera and Steve von Rajcs.
Announcements: 1) In remembrance of the victims of the December 2nd attack last year, the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians will illuminate the Arrowhead landmark located in the foothills of the San Bernardino Mountains for 14 days. 2) A reception for the California Transportation Commission will be held tomorrow night. Please contact Deborah if you plan to attend. 3) A reminder that the Inland Action Holiday Party will be held on Thursday, December 8, 2016. If attending, please remember to bring a gift card to donate to the Children’s Fund. 4) Seven new members/alternates attended the new member luncheon last week.

A mentor program for new members/alternates has been proposed by the Executive Committee to help with integration into the organization. Members present discussed various ways to help newer members. A description of mentoring responsibilities has been drafted and brought forward for approval.
Staff is working with a new e-mail system (Wild Apricot) as the current server through Imagine Systems is out of date and being discontinued.
The financials presented at the Executive Committee show the group is ahead of the budget. Appreciation was expressed to the staff for keeping expenses at a minimum.
The Nominating Committee has recommended the following slate of officers for full Board approval at the Annual Meeting on January 17, 2017:
Chair – Kristine Scott, The Gas Company 1st Vice Chair -Louis Goodwin, Wells Fargo Bank
2nd Vice Chair-Lowell King, Goodwill of Southern California
Secretary-Ken Coate, Inland Surety/Hub International
Treasurer-Scott Hofferber, Farmdale Creamery
The group was reminded that per the By-laws the 1st Vice Chair oversees the Inland Action Committees. The group discussed the importance of committee work and reiterated that all members/alternates should be encouraged to participate as committee members. It is not only important for the group but is informative and has value to the individuals.
The draft 2017 calendar was discussed. Some Inland Action meetings will be held in the West End in 2017. The proposed meetings would encourage participation by West End businesses. Inland Action’s West End Committee has suggested bi-monthly meetings. The group discussed the need for scheduling dynamic speakers to get maximum attendance for these meetings. Possible speakers were discussed. All Inland Action members will be asked to commit to this initiative and support such meetings.
The Washington, D.C. trip will likely occur in March. The dates will be set in January when the Congressional calendar is set.
Attendance of a member/alternate is always welcomed. Attendance is not a requirement of membership but should be encouraged. A group discussion ensued.

- Encourage members to bring guests
- Communicate attendance expectations to both new and existing members
- Encourage members who do not attend to assign an Alternate, should they not have one in place
