Present:   Deborah Barmack, Carole Beswick, Ken Coate, Kevin Dyerly, Louis Goodwin, Mark Kaenel, Lowell King, Pam Langford, P.T. McEwen, John Mirau, Tomas Morales, Vikki Ostermann, Catherine Pritchett, Michael Rivera, Dan Roberts, Kristine Scott, Paul Shimoff, Dominique Tan, Pete Van Helden, Steve von Rajcs and Frank Zabaleta.

 

Announcements: 1) The National Community Renaissance groundbreaking ceremony for Crestview Terrace housing project was a nice event and was well attended.  2) Congratulations were expressed to Inland Action CEO Carole Beswick recipient of the 2019 Larry Sharp Inland Empire Leadership Award from IEEP.  3) Tour options from Congressman Pete Aguilar’s office include a Capitol Dome tour on Tuesday, March 10 at 9 a.m. and Capitol and White House tours.  Availability is limited.  Please contact Carole Beswick if interested.  4) The meeting on February 4, 2020 will be a tour of the new Loma Linda Medical Center facilities.  Please sign up or e-mail Deborah Barmack if you plan to attend.  Hard hats will be supplied, and comfortable shoes advised.

Louis Goodwin, Chair made welcoming remarks.  Appreciation was expressed to Committee Chairs, Committee members and staff for their time and efforts over the last year.
Mark Kaenel, Treasurer presented and summarized the 2019 preliminary year end financials.  The group reviewed and discussed the Balance Sheet and the P & L (accrual basis).  The final version will be presented to the membership in a few months when compiled by the CPA firm of Spafford & Landry.
M/S/P: The 2019 preliminary financials approved as presented.

Mark Kaenel, Treasurer presented and summarized the proposed 2020 budget with a comparison of the 2019 budget and 2019 actual.  The 2020 proposed budget includes a goal of adding 3 additional members.
M/S/P: The 2020 Budget approved as presented.

Louis Goodwin, Chair presented and summarized the 2019 Annual Report.  Meetings held in West End that began in 2018 have been successful and will continue in 2020.  Inland Action is committed to further collaboration and strengthening the relationship with the Monday Morning Group.

John Mirau reviewed the requirements of the Conflict of Interest Policy.  The written policy, and the annual questionnaire were distributed to the members present.  Members were asked to complete the questionnaire and return it to the Inland Action office.  The policy and questionnaire will be sent electronically to those Members not in attendance.

The following slate of officers for 2020 was presented 2020:
Chair -Louis Goodwin, 1st Vice Chair -Lowell King, 2nd Vice Chair -Kevin Dyerly, Secretary -Ken Coate, Treasurer -Mark Kaenel.
M/S/P: Elect the 2020 Board of Officers as presented.

Louis Goodwin, Chair announced the proposed Committee Chairs:
Economic Development -Michael Rivera, Education – P.T. McEwen, Environment -Ken Coate, Health Care -Dan Murphy, Judicial -Dan Roberts, Legislative -Kristine Scott, Transportation -John Mirau, History -Bill Lemann, Membership –John Mirau.
M/S/P: Approve 2020 Committee Chairs as presented.

Approve Dan Schenkel, Vice President, California Housing Foundation as the primary representative for CHF. Steve von Rajcs is retiring January 31, 2020.

M/S/P: Dan Schenkel will be the primary representative for the California Housing Foundation.

 

Meeting adjourned at 8:25 a.m. as Committees broke into their respective groups.
